David Phillips Fellowship - call launched

BBSRC launched its annual call for David Phillips Fellowship applications on the 17th of July 2012.  These early career fellowships offer 5 years support, including personal salary and a significant research support grant.

David Phillips Fellowship proposals can be made within any area of BBSRC’s remit.  However, this year BBSRC is specifically encouraging proposals that are capable of driving forward the UK’s Knowledge Based Bioeconomy, with a focus on industrial biotechnology, bioenergy and  synthetic biology for white biotechnology.  Importantly, provided they reach the high standard expected of David Phillips Fellowships, a small number of additional fellowships may be made available for proposals within the KBBE area.

Note that the production of high value chemicals from plants and the translation of fundamental plant science (including knowledge from model plants such as Arabidopsis and Brachypodium) into more industrially-relevant non-food plants are important components of the KBBE area.

Further information, including a CV template, is available on the website.

KBBE queries should be directed to Michael Booth.  Please note that the closing date for applications is the 20th of September.
