UK launch of 2014 EU Horizon 2020 calls for proposals - Soc Challenges 2&5

Thursday 23 January 2014

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Broad Sanctuary, Westminster, London SW1P 3EE

This information day, organised by Defra, BBSRC, NERC and FSA, is for academic and business organisations interested in exploring funding opportunities in two key areas of the new European Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (2014-2020) launched on 11 December 2013.

The event will feature:

  • Presentations from the European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation on funding opportunities in the 2014 work programmes for the Societal Challenges:
  1. Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine and Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy (SC2), which is covering two highly cross-cutting calls on ‘Sustainable Food Security’ and ‘Blue Growth’ and a call aimed at fostering an ‘Innovative, Sustainable and Inclusive Bioeconomy’; and
  2. Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials (SC5), where calls on ‘Waste’ and ‘Water Innovation’ have been selected as particular priorities, on the grounds of their substantial potential for business opportunities and job creation while tackling important resource efficiency challenges.
  • Information on the opportunities available in other Horizon 2020 and European Research Area activities, including under the ‘Excellent Science’ and ‘Industrial Leadership’ Pillars.
  • Presentations by the Technology Strategy Board on European funding sources for business organisations (SME Instrument) and business-academia collaboration opportunities under Horizon 2020.

UK National Contact Points will be available on the day to provide advice and support for business and academic organisations on participation in Horizon 2020.  The event will also provide an excellent opportunity to network with others interested in EU collaborative projects.

Participation in the InfoDay is free, but registration is required.  Places are limited and applications will be on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

To attend please complete the Registration Form and return to Defra as soon as possible or by latest 14 January 2014.
